Catherine Nancy Pitchforth Crosby, age 89, passed away in St. George, Utah, on Thursday, July 7, 2011. She was born in Milford, Utah on October 14, 1921, the daughter of Samuel Eugene Pitchforth and Theresa Mendelsohn Pitchforth. Catherine was raised in Milford, and graduated from Milford High School in 1940. She graduated from Dixie College in 1942.

Catherine married Paul Miles Crosby at Hattiesburg, Mississippi on August 4, 1942, and spent most of her adult life traveling with her Army husband and raising three children. After Paul retired from the Army, they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, for three years and then on to St. George, where Paul taught at Dixie College.

Catherine is survived by her son, Colonel (Ret) Paul (Ivadell) S. Crosby of Battle Ground, Washington; daughter, Linda C. Beddow of Richmond, Virginia; son, John (Leslie) C. Crosby of Tucson, Arizona; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and brother, Samuel (Gladys) E. Pitchforth, Jr., of Lehi, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Crosby; sisters, Florence Wood and Patricia Curtis; and brother, Donald Pitchforth.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the St. George City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
