David Michael Kayton was born December 2, 1860 in Monroe County, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Lyons, December 1, 1934, age 73 years, 11 months and 29 days. He was married to Manerva Ann Kilgore, February 24, 1884, at Henderson, Iowa.
The family moved to Lyons, Nebraska, in 1906, making their home on a farm west of town, later moving into town, where they have resided for the past 23 years.
Although of a rather quiet disposition, Mr. Kayton was interested in people less fortunate than himself, always giving freely to those in need. These gifts were given so quietly that only those who knew him best realized the extent of them. He will always be remembered by his friends and business associates for his unfailing honesty.
He was devoted to his family and in later years was especially interested in his grandchildren, of whom there are sixteen. Although in poor health for over a year, and confined to his bed since last February, he still planned for his family's welfare, until his illness prevented.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and six children: Mrs. N. P. (Blanche)Trout, Gordon, Nebraska; Mrs. W. I. (Grace) Devers, Pierce, Nebraska; William Kayton of Gordon, Nebraska; Mrs. Wilson (Edith) Small, Estherville, Iowa; Maude Kayton, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Mrs. Vernon (Clara) Larson, Lyons, Nebraska; also his stepmother, Mrs. Jane Kayton of Octavia, Nebraska; three brothers and seven sisters survive.
