Richard Derr, age 30, appears as head of household in the 1860 US PA census records for Reed Twp., Dauphin county, residing with his wife Lucetta (or Lucy) and (2) daughters. A notation appears in Egle's Notes and Queries, Annual Vol., 1896, page 116, in regards to his burial in Long's Cemetery. According to his tombstone listing, he was listed in Company H, Reg. PA, during the CIVIL WAR, and died in Philadelphia. Family descendants note that he died of dysentary.
