John Kincaid is one of the old settlers of Taylor County and well known in this section. Mr. Kincaid and wife have lived in Buffalo Gap for many years where they run the Kincaid Hotel. Mr. Kincaid is also employed by the N.J. Tims' Mercantile Store of Buffalo Gap and Mrs. Kincaid has two young lady nieces who have made their home with them since childhood. - November 20, 1921, front page.
Services for John L. Kincaid were held in the Laughter-North Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. E.b. Surface of Abilene. Mr. Kincaid, 76, moved to Taylor County in 1893 with his parents. In 1910, he and his wife moved to Buffalo Gap and began operating a hotel, where they had lived since. Survived by his wife; six sisters - Mrs. S.E. Millard, Lulu Street, Mrs. W.E. Green, Mrs. Fred Brookreson, Mrs. G.H. West, Mrs. Claude West, and two of Mrs. Kincaid's cousins who had lived in his home - Mrs. John Deal and Mrs. Tom Afflerbaugh.
