John Foster Courtney, 29, of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Memphis, Missouri, died July 4, 2011 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri as a result of injuries received in an accident. He was born December 15, 1981 in Hannibal, Missouri to John Monroe Courtney and Connie R. Racey Courtney. Foster grew up in Memphis, Missouri and was a member of the Class of 2000, Scotland County R-I High School. Foster won many citizenship awards while in high school. He received a double degree in Business Administration and Arts Management from Culver-Stockton College, Canton,. Missouri, Class of 2004. Foster was a member and president of the Culver Stockton Chapter Delta Upsilon. He was privileged to do an internship at the DU International Headquarters. He was also a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). He received the Wood Citizenship Award at Culver-Stockton. After college Foster moved to St. Louis. He was very active in athletics especially Kick Ball League. This past year he was a member of the St. Louis Crusaders Rugby Team. Foster was presently employed at Corizan Medical Services in Human Resources. After his fathers death, Foster and his mother enjoyed several trips. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #16 A. F. & A. M. of Memphis. Survivors include his mother, Connie R. Courtney of Memphis, Missouri, three aunts; Sally Eggers of Columbia, Missouri, Judy Wilcox (John) of Shelbina, Missouri, Lois Courtney of Memphis, Missouri an uncle Steve Racey (Jodie) of Lancaster, Missouri. Also surviving are cousins; Stephanie (Dave) Shalley, Sonya (Patrick) See , Stacie (James) Whitaker all of Memphis, Missouri; Jeff and Jim Racey of Little Rock Arkansas, John, Joe and Jacob Wilcox of Shelbina, Missouri and Brian Eggers of Austin, Texas and many other cousins and friends. Foster was preceded in death by his father, John; his grandparents, Paul and Peggy Racey and Gerald R. and Madlyn Courtney, uncle, Steve Courtney, and two cousins, Christopher and Scott Courtney.
