Although the gravestone says this man's middle name was "Jefferson," earlier records say his middle name was "Lafayette." It was his daughter-in-law Pearl who provided the information for his death certificate; she had married into the family in 1907, and her information was less than perfect.
William was the son of Jefferson HUFFORD and Malanda BOONE. William married Malinda Jane HOGUE in about 1874 in Missouri. By 1880, they had moved to Carroll County, Arkansas. By 1900, they were in Polk County, Arkansas. By 1910, they were in Latimer County, Oklahoma, and by 1920, Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
They had nine children: Clara Elizabeth, Effe, Thomas J., Maude May, Lulu, Alice, Susie Mamie, Nora, and Eva.
Over his life, he supported himself and his family working as a farmer, a teamster, and an oil field worker.
