Elder Hardy Calloway Pearson, 88, founder of the Church of Christ in Gainesville, died late Saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs T.J. Clark, 645 N. Taylor St. He had been in failing health for several years.
Known and respected as a Church of Christ Minister for more than half a century, Elder Pearson was born in Missouri on July 4, 1854, the son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Shelton Pearson. He come to Texas at the age of 12, and in 1879 married Miss Kitty Judith Shelton in Ben Franklin, Texas. He was left a widow in 1935.
