STERLING - Everett A. "Duke" Bankey, 92, passed away July 3, 2011, at Presbyterian Manor in Sterling, Kan.

He was born April 27, 1919, at El Dorado, Kan., to William and Ruth Doris Bankey.

He married Lola M. Davenport on July 28, 1940, in McPherson, Kan.

He had been an oil well pumper around Sterling for 26 years and worked at Cessna in Hutchinson until he retired in 1980.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Alma Moye and Agnes Hargedine, two brothers, Roy Bankey and Charles Bankey, a daughter, Linda Bankey, two sons, Kenneth Bankey and Bruce Bankey, and a grandson, Jeremy Bankey.

Survivors include: his wife, of the home; a sister, Carol June Worth; three daughters, Evelyn Sue Lind and husband Jim, LaVeda Tull and Retta Young; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, with burial to follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
