Agnes Angela Kassik was born to Joseph Herynk and Anna Dlouhy on November 21, 1909, at Tobias, and passed away on December 7, 1984, at her home near Milligan at the age of 75 years and 16 days. She was one of five children in the family. She was baptized in the Catholic faith.

She attended Tobias Public School and graduated with the Class of 1928. Following graduation, she taught rural school at District 48 in Saline County.

She married Henry Kassik on June 9th, 1931, at the Friend Catholic Church. They made their home southwest of Milligan, and this was to be her home for the next 53 years.

To this union, three sons were born, Henry Allen, Ralph, and Richard. Although she was the mother of three, she was like a mother to many more.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, and especially enjoyed reading books to her grandson, Bryce and Brent. She was a dedicated community worker, involved in the Woman's Club; Extension Club, Blood-mobile, Legion Auxiliary, Calamity Band and Czech plays. She was a faithful sports booster, and a willing worker in any community activity. She was a faithful member of the Tobias Alumni Association, never missing a banquet since they began 47 years ago. She was always proud of the fact that she was the first lady elected to an Extension Board in the State of Nebraska.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; and their son, Henry Allen.

She is survived by the following: tow sons, Ralph and Richard; one daughter-in-law, Brenda, and two grandsons, Bryce and Brent, all of Milligan; four sisters, Emillie Novak of Milligan, Anne (Mrs. Don Crays) of Tobias, Blanche (Mrs. Emil Havel) of Long Beach, Cal., and Allene Tesar of Crete; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and two special friends, Shirley and Judy, and many other friends. She will be greatly missed by her community as well as her family and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Milligan Auditorium on Monday, December 10, with the Rev. Donald Marsh officiating. Mrs. Robert Zeleny accompanied Robert Kassik, who sang, "How Great Thou Art" and "Everyone Carries His Own Cross" in Czech.

Pallbearers were Wally Brt, Don R. Crays, Lavern Novak, Allen Soukup, Glen Soukup and Milo Steinacher. Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery.
