Pete, a native of Ledoux, New Mexico and a resident of Santa Fé, passed away in Mesa, Arizona with his family by his side.
Pete was preceded in death by his son, Arthur J. Trujillo and many other family members.
Pete was survived by his wife, Delfina G. Trujillo, daughter, Frances T. Pfeifer, son-in-law, James W. Pfeifer, granddaughters, Amanda and Audrey Pfeifer, sister, Margaret Valdéz and many other relatives.
During World War II, Pete served in the United States Armed Forces and was awarded three Bronze Stars for his bravery.
On July 17, 1944, Santa Fé, Pete was inducted and entered into service with the United States Army. Pete was described as 5' 6", 138 pounds, hazel eyes, black hair and a teacher. On January 1, 1945, he departed for the European Theatre of Operations and arrived on January 6, 1945. Pete served as a general clerk with Company A, 60th Infantry Regiment. Pete participated in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Pete was awarded the European-Africa-Middle-East Campaign Medal with 3 bronze stars, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and 2 overseas service bars. On June 7, 1946, he returned to the states and arrived on June 20, 1946. On June 27, 1946, Pete was honorably discharged as a TEC4 [Sergeant] at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and issued a lapel button (WD AGO Form 53-55).
Pete was married to Delfina Gonzáles-Trujillo and made his home in Santa Fé with her and his two children.
Pete taught for the Santa Fé public schools and retired after many rewarding years of teaching.
A Rosary will be recited on June 17, 2008 at McGee Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass to follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial with full military honors will be at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM. A reception followed at the Lodge of Santa Fé, Santa Fé, NM.
