Eleanora Verdine Toland, age 87, passed away on February 20, 2008, at home with her son, Don, and grandchildren Melissa, Travis, and Kimberly, at her bedside.

Verdine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49-year, Herb.

Verdine was born in Quemado, NM on May 9, 1920 to George Russell Underwood and Mary Emma Grimes.

Verdine was raised in and around Cottonwood, AZ (The Verde Valley), until she became a beautician in Phoenix, AZ.

Verdine met the love of her life, Herb, in March of 1948 in Las Vegas, NV, and became an Army wife. They traveled to San Francisco CA, Heidelberg, Germany and Ft. Bliss, TX, during Herb's career with the United States Army.

In 1954, she joined the Lutheran Church and enjoyed it immensely, being a strong believer in Jesus Christ and reading and studying the Bible. Verdine was a founding member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in El Paso, TX.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 3708 Monaco NE, Albuquerque, NM. Burial will be at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Verdine's honor to VistaCare Hospice, 5639 Jefferson NE, Albuquerque, NM 505-449-3400.
