Ernest Herbert Purfurst graduated from the University Houston with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ernie retired from Haliburton Oil Services in 1991 as the Chief Mechanical Design Engineer. Ernie was a volunteer for the Bear Creek Assistance Ministries. He was a member of the Cypress Swingers Square Dance Club and SDC Rounders. He was active in the Bear Creek Community Center, and a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. Ernie served his country faithfully during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army where he reached the rank of Tech Sergeant.
