OBITUARY - Sterling-White Funeral Home

Willie Frank Kanak, 97, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend, born Sunday, March 15, 1914 in Wallis, Texas to Frank Kanak & Meta (Wetz) Kanak; went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in Crosby, Texas with his loving family by his side.

Willie or "Bill" by his family and friends, has been a lifelong resident of the Crosby area and worked for Exxon Mobile, formerly Humble Oil as a mechanic for thirty-five years before his retirement. He was a member of Crosby United Methodist Church. Willie was a true to the core cowboy. In his free time he enjoyed bailing hay, working cattle, hunting in the woods and loved a good game of dominos; but what Willie truly loved more than anything were the times he shared with his family & friends who he loved so dearly. Willie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Willie is preceded in death by his father, Frank Kanak; mother, Meta Kanak; stepmother, Christina Kanak; sisters, Olga Desha, Jane Uherek and Elsie Wolf.

Willie is survived by his beloved wife of seventy-three years, Winnie Kanak; children, Carolyn Bailey & husband Richard, Wanda Odom & husband Bobby and Bill Kanak & wife Bonnie; six grandchildren, Tera, Ricky, Lisa, Warren, Kevin and Diana; four great grandchildren, Candace, Cassie, Reagan and Hunter; two great-great grandchildren, David and Robert and numerous other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 6-8pm at Sterling ~ White Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 8, 2011 at 2:00pm at Crosby United Methodist Church, 1334 Runneburg Road, Crosby, Texas 77532. Services have been entrusted to Sterling ~ White Funeral Home & Cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Road, Highlands, Texas 77562.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Faith Community Hospice for their care and support.
