He was born on 1/3/1921 in Brasher, son of the late Allen J. and Ellen Hayes Carvel. He attended Helena Schools.
He married Esther Robertson of Massena on 9/2/1945 at Sacred Heart Rectory. She died on 5/30/1997.
He started working at ALCOA in Massena on Oct. 10, 1940 and when he retired in 1971, was working in Building 140. After retirement, he owned and operated Carvel's Tavern by the CC Dam and then The Jug in North Lawrence.
He was survived by two sons, Charles (Maryellen) and Leonard (Lynda); his friend, June Lavine of Brasher Falls; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Five brothers, Bertram, Bernard, William, James and Frank; five sisters, Janette Carvel, Katherine Carvel, Sr. Mary "Margaret" Marcella, Sarah Klamm and Agnes Rose, predeceased him.
