Owen Albert Lansdowne, 87, died quietly in his home at Lakeline Oaks in Cedar Park, Texas on Wednesday, June 8th, 2011. The cause was liver cancer.

Born September 7th, 1923 in Wichita, Kansas, he enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and retired as a Major in the Air Force in 1963, during which he flew 65 bombing missions over Europe as a B-26 pilot during W.W. II and served during the Korean War. He worked for the City of Austin as Director of Civil Defense and later as Division Head of Water and Waste Water from 1964 until retirement in 1985. For 20 years after retirement he traveled throughout Europe and the United States with his wife. He was a 3rd degree Free Mason with the Albert Pike Lodge in Wichita, Kansas. He was married to Elvora Jean White whom he knew since kindergarten on June 26th 1943 by his father, Sterling Clay Lansdowne - a Nazarene Minister. They would have been married 68 years later this month.

Survivors include his wife, Elvora Jean Lansdowne, three sons: Michael Owen Lansdowne and his wife Barbara, Steven Todd Lansdowne and his wife Annette and Jeffry Scott Lansdowne and his wife Vicki, and Jeff's daughter Emily Lansdowne. Owen was preceded in death by his father Sterling (1972) and mother, Laura (1962), his brothers Carl, Jim, and Paul, and his sister Marion Mitchell.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30, Thursday, June 16th, 2011 in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.
