James Bolles, (sic) one of the first settler of the town of Oak Grove, Died of typhoid pneumonia at his home in the town on Thursday last after a brief illness. Mr. Bolles (sic) was one of the staunch men of the county and his death is lamented by all who knew him.

Oak Grove - The death of Jas. Bolles deprives us of one of our oldest settlers, he having reached his 59th year. A wife and 8 small children mourn his loss. River Falls Journal 3-18-1880
