Grave side services were planned for this morning (Wednesday) at Westview Cemetery for a former long-time La Porte City resident, Richard Reed, 62, who died Saturday at a hospital in Los Angeles, California, from a lingering illness.
Mr. Reed had lived in California approximately 30 years after leaving La Porte City.
He was born November 20, 1904, at Brancroft, Iowa, the son of Wallace and Mary Reed and came with his parents to La Porte City as a child. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lola Miller and Mrs. Robert Harton both of La Porte City; two brothers Glen of Minneaplis, Minn., and Roy of Blackwell, Oklahoma.
