The people of Clarion and vicinity received a terrible shock Wednesday afternoon, July 16th, when word was received that Mr. A. G. Corbett had died in the West Penn Hospital following a very serious operation which he
underwent that day. During the past several months Mr. Corbett has not been well and had a serious case of the influenza, from which he recovered sufficiently to be around apparently as usual. For quite a little spell he
was at a sanitarium where he received treatment which seemed to benefit him and his friends hoped it would be permanent. Further trouble developed and in this last sickness it was decided that an operation would be necessary.

Accordingly, he went to Pittsburgh last Friday for that purpose. Mr. Corbett was born July 17, 1844, a member of one of the most remarkable families reared in this section of country, that of Samuel T. and Ruth (Kirkpatrick) Corbett, who lived on the old Corbett homestead in Clarion township. There were nine sons and one daughter born in this family, of whom six brothers and one sister have passed over to the other side, leaving three brothers surviving, namely: C. Lee Corbett, Clarion; Frank S. Corbett, Clarion township, and J. M. Corbett, New Bethlehem. The deceased was united in marriage with Miss Clara V. Howe on June 8, 1870.

Mrs. Corbett survives her husband with the following children: Miss Lucile Corbett, of Clarion; Stanley and Edgar Corbett, of Pittsburgh, and Ronald Corbett, in the Medical Corps of the 28th Division, still in service, who
was to sail from France this week. More than forty-two years ago, in 1877,

Mr. Corbett began business in the drug store which carries his name and in all this time he has been as constant as daylight in attending to his business, having taken very few vacations and those were quite short. He has built up quite an extensive business as a monument to his industry, integrity and thrift. He has also been interested in the development of the resources of the county, at times having special interest in oil and gas and other enterprises of legal capital, such as the East Jellico Coal Co., of Tennessee. For many years he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Clarion State Normal School, and served as President of the same for a
number of years. Mr. Corbett has been a member of the Presbyterian Church of many years standing and has been a consistent adherent and supporter, besides serving in the executive officiary of the church for many years. The
funeral will probably he held from his late home on Saturday afternoon about 2 o'clock, but a definite statement cannot be made until the members of the
family all arrive this, Thursday evening. Rev. Frank S. Montgomery will have charge of the services.
