Walter E. EtheridgeTUCUMCARI - Funeral services for Everett Etheridge, 77, who died Wednesday at Clovis High Plains Hospital, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday from Dunn Funeral Home Chapel in Tucumcari with Joe Wilson and Horace Kennedy officiating. Interment will be in the Tucumcari Cemetery under the direction of Dunn Funeral Home.Mr. Etheridge was born Jan. 31, 1904 in Kingston, Okla. He worked as a barber in Tucumcari and Logan for 35 years and moved to Clovis last fall for health reasons. He was a member of the Logan Church of Christ.Survivors include his wife, Viola of the home; three sons, Aaron Etheridge of Hereford, Texas, Glen Etheridge of Logan and Harold Etheridge of Clovis; two daughters, Mrs. Elva Vickrey of Clovis, and Mrs. Alice Patton of Hobbs; one sister, Mrs. Beaulah Kelly of Albuquerque; one brother, Hardy Etheridge of Pueblo, Colo; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He came to New Mexico with his parents in 1912 when they homesteaded west of Nara Visa. He moved to Logan in 1935, and to Tucumcari in 1943.For the past 12 years he had been living in Logan until last October when he moved to Clovis.Mr. Etheridge was a retired barber. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Logan.Surviving him is his wife, Viola Etheridge of Clovis; three sons, Glen of Logan, Aaron of Hereford and Harold [error in printing here] Alice Patton of Hobbs; one brother, Hardy of Pueblo, one sister, Beulah Kelly of Albuquerque; 15 grandchildren; and other relatives. Funeral services were for Mr. Etheridge were conducted in the Dunn Memorial Chapel Friday at 3 p.m. with Mr. Joe Wilson, Minister of the Logan Church of Christ, officiating and assisted by Rev. Horace Kennedy, Minister of the Logan Baptist Church.Active bearers were Thurman Thomas, Jack Feerer, Newell Ramsey, Jim McDonald, Loren C. Osborn, and Lewis Young.Interment was in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.The remains of Mr. Etheridge lied in state at the Dunn Funeral Home until time for funeral services Friday afternoon.

When Walter Everett ETHERIDGE was born on January 31, 1904, in Kingston, Oklahoma, his father, Jesse, was 51 and his mother, Josephine, was 43. He married Viola Victoria Meeks on May 16, 1921, in Stratford, Texas. He had five children by the time he was 26. He died on August 26, 1981, in Clovis, New Mexico, at the age of 77, and was buried in Tucumcari, New Mexico.
