Mrs. DANIEL J. FITZGERALD
Mrs. Rose (Morrissey) Fitzgerald, 78, of 202 West Main St., widow of Daniel J. Fitzgerald, died at Fairview Nursing Home Sunday morning after a long illness.
The daughter of James J. and Catherine (Fleming) Morrissey, she was born in Bennington on Aug 29, 1892 and had been a lifelong resident here. Her education had ben received in local schools. She was married to Mr. Fitzgerald in St. Francis de Sales Church in 1922. He died in 1966.
A member of St. Francis de Sales Church, she had been active in the church choir for many years and was one of its leading soloists during a long period. She also belonged to the Altar Rosary Society and to Court St. Andrew, Catholic Daughters of America. Her contribution to these groups will be remembered. She had also been a member of Putnam Memorial Hospital Auxillary.
Survivors are one sister, Miss Bessie Morrissey of Bennington, and several cousins.
The funeral will be held at Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday at 8:30 am with a prayer and then, because of renovations in St. Francis de Sales Church, in Sacred Heart Church at 9 where a Requiem High Mass will be offered.
Calling hours at the funeral home are tonight from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
Recitation of the Rosary will be Tuesday at 7:45 pm.
Entombment will be in Park Lawn Chapel with burial to be in this cemetery in the spring.
