Edward J. Allard
Edward J. Allard, 78, a life-long resident of Bennington who resided on Harvard Street, died unexpectedly this morning at his home.
Born in Bennington July 17, 1888, his parents were Rama and Elsie (LaPointe) Allard. His schooling had been received in Bennington. He was employed at the Olin Scott Machine Company for approximately 20 years. His last employment was at the H.E. Bradford plant. A machinist by trade, he had retired about 18 years ago.
Mr. Allard operated his own shop on Harvard Street, where he serviced lawn mowers of all types. Hunting and fishing he had especially enjoyed.
He married the former Lillian McClune in Sacred Heart Church in June 1908. Survivors are his wife, three sons; Edward of Wethersfield, Conn.; Charles and Harold of Bennington; three daughters, Miss Mary Allard, Mrs. Rita Carbonaro and Mrs. Joel (Julia) Pierce, all of Bennington; one sister, Mrs. Henry (Lena) Previe of Whitehall, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, also nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 10:30 am at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph F. Wiseman officiating. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Chapel. Burial will be in this cemetery in the spring.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm when the family will be in attendance.
