During his service, he received training at Chaffey College in Ontario, California. The troops were housed under the college athletic field bleachers. Doyle thought Ontario was so beautiful that after the war, he and Claudie returned to Ontario in 1947 to make their home. They built a lovely two bedroom house where they raised their only child, a daughter, Linda Jo.
Uncle Doyle was always telling "true" stories. Everytime he repeated one, it was stretched a little farther.
However, there is a real "true story" that when Doyle was preparing to graduate from Littlefield High School, the principal wanted to know what his middle name was. He told her only the letter "C", which is correct. Doyle did not have a middle name, only the middle initial C ... but the principal insisted that was incorrect and she needed to know his middle name. He finally relented and told her "Calvin" ... Doyle Calvin Glazener. The principal was happy but Doyle's mother was furious.
