My Dad
I sat by his bed
Holding his hand in mine
Laying my head close to his
Listening for all the life I could find
His eyes were distant
His words so gentle and low
As he told me he loved me
But it was his time to go
For weeks I prayed for him
Cherishing every moment with love
Knowing this moment would come
As would the Angels from above
As tears filled my eyes
My heart grew heavy with pain
I told him one last time
My love for him was not in vain
He was the best dad a child could ask for
The love and strong hands of life
A wonderful man, a family man
Who loved so much, his family and wife
As the Angels took him away that day
As he peacefully closed his eyes
His pain was gone and he was free
And sadly I said my goodbyes
I love you dad, with all my heart
Thank you for all the memories and time
God can have your body and soul
But the memories will always be mine.
I love you dad, you are always in my thoughts. God bless you, you are missed very much.
- Your loving daughter, LeAnn
JB's Note: Miss Donna fondly related a short description to me once of Mr. Hoffman about when he was employed as a deputy sheriff. She said he was a fair man, who would give a break to anyone that he felt deserved it. In other words he was a just man, but his justice was tempered. Thats about as great a compliment as any peace officer can receive. Rest in peace, sir.
