Martin Henry Bogue owned a planing mill in North East, PA at he time of his son Merwyn's birth, but by 1910 had moved to Erie, PA where he was a successful building contractor. This mill, in a 1906 advertisement from the North East Advertiser, made dressed lumber, lath, shingles, doors, sash, siding, flooring, moldings and fence material.
