George Prentiss Thacher is the second child and first son of Captain Prentiss Thacher (1822 - 1858) and Dinah Hall Nickerson Thacher (1823 - 1901).
He married Betsey Kelley Sears (1853 - 1881) at Taunton, MA in 25 April 1872. He was a sea-captain of the schooner "John Paull" out of Boston, MA and lived successively at Dennis and Taunton, MA.
They had 2 daughters: Nellie Abbie 1872 and Bessie Kelley 1876.
George Prentiss Thacher died at Norfolk, VA.
