Winifred Bell (Lawton) LaForce March 19, 1923 - March 28 2010. Winifred was born in Sanford, Colorado to Joseph Clymer Lawton and Mattie May Johnson. She passed away peacefully in the love of her family at the home of her daughter Melanie. Winifred was one of six children; she was raised in the San Luis Valley. Her siblings Carl, Frank, Jerry and Betty preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Robert. Winifred attended Barns Business School and during World War II, enlisted in the Woman's Army Corps (WAC). She later attended University of Denver pursuing a teaching degree. She married Lester Ray LaForce in 1948 and was blessed with six children. They were later divorced after 35 years. Winifred worked full time while raising her children. Her son Grayson preceded her in death. Her surviving children are: Lester, Daniel, Melanie, Minou and Farah. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was a fourth generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved family, history, gardening, travel, and reading. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral services on Monday, April 5th in the LDS chapel located 6465 W. Jewell Ave., Lakewood, CO. Visitation starts at 9:30 with services at 10:30. Grave side military honors at Fort Logan Cemetery at 12:30.
