Vestal Mouser was born in Stamps, Arkansas to Arthur and Bertha Mae Mouser. Vestal graduated high school and joined the U. S. Army in 1941, where he served his country in World War II. He was a Squad Leader, Message Center Chief, and Car Commander in the Rhineland Campaign GO 40 WD 45. He was wounded in action on 17 January 1945 in France.
