From the Rock island Argus, published Saturday, May 4, 1968:

Robert Ernest Carlson, 55, of 2028 13th St., Moline, died this morning in Moline Lutheran Hospital after a heart attack. Services will be at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon in the Esterdahl Mortuary, with burial in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 tomorrow evening.

Mr. Carlson was born in Davenport. He married Elsie Petersen, June 6, 1935 in Moline. He was a general foreman at the John Deere Planter Works, where he had been employed 30 years.

He played the trumpet on riverboats in the 1930s and more recently was with the Hal Wiese Orchestra and the Scott Clark Orchestra.

Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Carole and a son at home, Steven, and a grandchild.
