John Alphonsus Braniff was a son of Patrick John and Marie Anna Conrad Braniff. The family lived in Cambria and Blair Counties, PA between 1850 - 1870.
His siblings included Francis Jane, Thomas J., Mary Annie and Rebecca S. Braniff.
John married Mary in 1872 and they had six children Bertha, Edward A., Thomas Elmer, Mary Madeline, Phillip Conrad and Paul Revere Braniff.
The family moved to Salina, KS, later to Kansas City, MO. and finally settling in Oklahoma City in 1899.
John was a pioneer insurance executive, founding the Braniff Insurance Co. His survivers are his two sons Thomas Elmer and Paul Revere Braniff. (Note - these two brothers went on to found the Braniff Airways, one of the world's leading airlines during their lifetime.)
