VIOLET APPLEYARD
Violet Clementine Appleyard, 89, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Monday at the River Valley Care Center, Poughkeepsie.
Born Jan. 1, 1912, in Dupont, she was a daughter of the late George and Anna (Zak) Fila. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Poughkeepsie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; son, Robert; two brothers and nine sisters.
Surviving are her sons, Monsignor George, Austintown, Ohio; Denis, Kingston, N.Y.; and Ronald, Charleston, W.Va.; daughters, Arlene Chiaramonte, Staatsburg, N.Y.; and Audrey Appleyard, Beacon, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lottie Golden and Della Tibbit, both of Pennsylvania.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 218 Mill St., Poughkeepsie, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Lafayette Place, Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow in Long Island National Cemetery, Pinelawn, Long Island. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Hospital, Health Care Foundation, North Road, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., 12601; or to St. Anne's School, 3055 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown, Ohio, 44515.
