A. COTTERMAN PASSES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS
Came to Valparaiso 35 Years Ago. Celebrated 50th Wedding Anniversary Last Fall.
Adam F. Cotterman, age 71 years, died Wednesday evening at 6:30 o'clock at his home, 1003 Oak street, following a short illness.
On Sept. 21, 1930, Mr. and Mrs. Cotterman observed their golden wedding anniversary with a gathering of more than one hundred relatives and friends.
For the last eight years Mr. Cotterman had been employed at the Indiana Steel Products company.
He was born in Illinois on March 21, 1860, and lived in that state until coming to Porter county thirty-five years ago from Yates City, Illinois, and locating on a farm near Boone Grove. Seven years later he moved to the old Skinner place, 2 1/2 miles east of Valparaiso. Eight years ago with his family he came to Valparaiso to reside.
Mr. Cotterman was married on Sept. 19, 1880, to Fannie M. Tennery, at the home of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newton H. Tennery, near Yates City, Ill.
Six children were born to this union, four of whom survive with the widow. They are: Ernest and Wade Cotterman, of Valparaiso, and Muriel and Emma Cotterman, of Chicago. He also leaves eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the C. W. Bartholomew & Son chapel, Rev. F. R. Briggs, of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Friends desiring to view the remains may do so at the Bartholomew chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening, and tomorrow morning.
