The subject of this sketch, Joseph Bell, was the son of Elisha Bell of Dana. Joseph was an attorney at law, and went to New Mexico about 2 years ago or more for the benefit of his failing health. He was afflicted with consumption. Of late he had been rapidly growing worse and desired to return home with a brother but died on the train at El Paso, TX, on Friday last. His remains arrived home on the midnight train Sunday night. The funeral occurred at the Baptist Church in Dana at 2 o'clock last Monday afternoon, after which his remains were conveyed to the Bono Cemetery and silently laid away by kind friends. Joe was about 35 years of age and had many friends in the county.

Dana
Dr. Joseph S. Bell, son of E.B. Bell, died in Texas last Thursday and was brought home, arriving here Sunday night. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Monday afternoon and was very largely attended. Dr. Joe was a genial fellow, and always had a kind word and pleasant smile for everyone he met. He was enjoying a lucrative practice in the Lone Star state, but that dread disease consumption claimed him as a victim in the very zenith of his manhood and usefulness. We extend to the bereaved wife, father, mother, and brothers, our sincere sympathy. The members of the K. and P. Lodge of which he had been a member, very kindly looked after the arrangements for funeral and burial.

Rev. Harry Bell of California and Dr. T.C. Bell, now practicing his profession in Texas, are in Dana, having accompanied the remains of their brother, Dr. Bell.
