BOOTHBAY - Dorothy Beal Alley, 94, died April 21, 2010. She was born July 2, 1915, in Jonesport, daughter of John Henry and Katie Lee Beal. In 1933 Dorothy married Alton Preston, they made their home in Jonesport and Rockland. In 1959 she married John Alley Sr., lived briefly in Jonesport before moving to the Boothbay area, where she attended Boothbay Baptist Church. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, handiwork, sewing and knitting. Dorothy is predeceased by first husband, Alton Preston; a son, Richard Preston; and brothers, Roger Beal Sr. and Nolan Beal. Survivors include husband, John Alley Sr.; daughter, Lanta Preston Hachey of Old Town and family; stepdaughter, Joanne Bishop of Addison and family; daughter-in-law, Lelia Preston of Lumberton, N.J. and family; stepsons, John Alley Jr. of Belgrade and Shirley Alley of Jonesport and their families; sister, Gloria Lemay of Old Orchard Beach; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation 2-3 p.m. April 23 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, Boothbay, with a 3 p.m. service. Donations to Boothbay Baptist Church, P.O. She was graduated from Jonesport High School in Maine and married Alton Richard Preston on 16 December 1933 and also married John Merrill Alley Jr. on 1 November 1959.
