Amelia had died just 4 weeks after the birth of her 8th child.
Sadly, Sophia would suffer the same fate. She died shortly after the birth of her only child, Ballard Ernest Ward. At her request, Ballard was taken by her brother, Benjamin Floyd Nuckolls, and brought up with his family.
