Maurice W. McCall, 89, of Wichita Falls, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 in Wichita Falls. He was 89.

Maurice was born May 19, 1920 in Waco, TX to Hawley Sweet and Aileen Gregory (Woulfe) McCall. He married Jodelle Gaines December 5, 1943 in Wichita Falls and together they raised three children. He served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII as a bomber pilot with the 493rd squadron. He earned bachelors degrees in both mechanical and petroleum engineering at Texas A & M and has been a lifelong supporter of the university. He established a President's Endowed Scholarship for his father; in turn his children established a scholarship in his name. He is a member of the 12th Man Club at the university, Sons of the Republic, Wichita Club Coffee Group, Big Band Dance Club and had perfect attendance at the Wichita Falls Rotary Club for over 60 years. Mr. McCall was the president and owner of United Electric Company, and was a world traveler.

Mr. McCall was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jodelle McCall in 1999; son, David Gaines McCall in 1975; brother, Hawley McCall; and parents, Hawley and Aileen McCall. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Joe H. and Michele McCall of Austin, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Mark Puffer of League City, TX; sister, Peggy Brown of San Jose, CA; and three grandchildren, Lily, Connor, and Quinn McCall.
