She, her parents and her 8 siblings emigrated 16 September 1865 from Hamburg, Germany, aboard the ship Allemania and immigrated 1 October 1865, into New York Harbor. The family settled in Grundy County, Iowa.
On 10 April 1871 she married Reinder Edze Aukes who died 20 June 1878 in Grundy County Iowa, leaving Gepke a widow to raise four sons all under the age of six.
In February 1885 Gepke married second Remmer Willem Ludewig and at that time she moved to Stephenson County, IL.
Gepke died 14 September 1919 in Meekin, a small community near German Valley in Stephenson County IL.
