Mr. Leslie Pat Akin, son of the late Mr. Elliott Akin and Mrs. Nora Wayne Akin, was born June 26, 1912 in Green County and departed this life at 3 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 1980 at the Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville. He was 67 years, nine months and 12 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ. He united in marriage to Miss Estelle Neagle March 4, 1930, who survives. To this union were born eight sons and four daughters. Surviving are: Roy Akin, Georgia; Herman Akin, Willisburg; Buford, Wallace and Doyle Akin, all of Greensburg; Mrs. Sarah Newcomb, Indiana; Mrs. Maedell Shirley, Norma Jean Akin, both of Greensburg; Martha Jane Akin, Louisville, Gordon Wayne, Alton and Dalton Akin preceded their father in death. Mr. Akin is also survived by two brothers, Glen Akin, Greensburg and Austin Akin, Louisville; two sisters: Mrs. Gertie Martin, Greensburg and Mrs. Lillian Brewer, Louisville; 12 grandchildren and five step-grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends. The remains were at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home where funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 1980 with burial in the Akin Cemetery. Rev. William Karnes and Rev. Hilton Judd officiated. Active pallbearers were Herman Akin, Buford Akin, Wallace Akin, Doyle Akin, Stevie Akin and Tony Akin. Honorary pallbearers were Roger Dale Neagle, . . . Neagle, David Martin, Mike Akin, . . . Dobson, Roy Gupton, and Maurice Givens.
