Daisy Glayds McCarthy Ericksen,101,of Sioux City died Saturary,Sept.7,2002,at a Sioux City nursing home.Services will be 5p.m.today at Nelson Berger Northside Chapel,with Rev.Jim Blanchard of Central Baptist Church officiating.Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.Daisy was born March 5,1901,near Miller,S.D.,the daughter of Emma and George McCarthy.She taught school a few years after graduating from High school and then worked in a doctor's clinic in Sioux Falls,S.D.,where she met her husband,Dr.O.J.Ericksen.They weremarried in 1925.In 1942,Daisy developed and operated her own advertising business calles Wee Baby Welcoming Service,which called on new mothers while they were in the hospital.Prior to her business,she was a city hostess,caalling on new families moving into Sioux City.Daisy was a member of Central Baptist Church and a loyal follower of Billy Graham.She was a charter member of Sioux City Delphean Chapter Study Club and past president of United Church Women.She helped organize the Sioux City Gospel Mission Auxiliary and was its frist president and was a life member of Eastern Star.Survivors include four nieces,Kay Posy of Dyersville,Iowa,Darla Hernandez of Portage,Idaho,Mary Wienstroer of Labadie,Mo.,Kris Zempel of Adrain,Minn.,and garland McCarthy of Sioux Falls,S.D.She was preceded in death by her parents,her husband,a brother and four sisters.Memorial may be made in her name to Hospice or Central Baptist Church.
