Mrs. Duffee, who will take office in September, will succeed D. H. Phillips, who has served for the past two years… Highlights of Monday’s meeting was an account of experiences as a U. S. Army War Nurse told by Miss Betty Jane Duffee, daughter of the newly-elected president. Miss Duffie, who recently returned home from several years overseas service, told an interesting story of her experiences, both in France and Germany, in ministering not only to wounded American soldiers but also to a large group of badly-wounded German prisoners of war. The speaker recounted being in Paris on V-E Day, stating that the number of people celebrating and waving flags in the streets for three continual days was beyond description as the throngs milled through the Champs Elysees and up to the Arc de Triomphe. Following Miss Duffee’s talk, an hour of motion pictures was exhibited…” (BRADFORD EVENING STAR and the BRADFORD DAILY RECORD. Wed. Apr. 17, 1946. pg 13)

The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, Theodore J. Duffee of Ridgway, was attractive in a street-length dress of forget-me-not blue mousseline de soie over taffeta, with black accessories. She wore a corsage of pink rosebuds. She carried a black prayer book with a fall of pink flowers as a marker. The prayer book had been given to her when she made her confirmation and she carried it with her during her service overseas with the Army Nurses Corps… After the wedding, a reception was held at the home of the bride in Degolia with 50 guests attending…” (The BRADFORD ERA from Bradford, Pennsylvania.
