BUSTER LEE ROUNDS

Buster Lee Rounds, SR. passed away Aug. 24, 2005 at the age of 68, at his residence in Chariton. He was born on March 7, 1937 in Everett, Wash., the son of Louis and Edith (Murray) Rounds. He graduated from Cody High School in Cody, Wyo.

He married Rosemarie Cross in Des Moines. They raised five children: Lewis Lee Rounds, Buster Lee Rounds, Jr., Rory Guess, Geri Wallace, and Cori Jones, all of Des Moines. He worked as a welder at Massey Ferguson in Des Moines for several years. Then he worked as a maintenance engineer at Royal Oaks for eight years until his retirement.

He married Evelyn Duckworth on Dec. 6, 2003 in Chariton. He moved to Chariton and started working at Autumn Park as a maintenance engineer for a short time.

Buster's greatest enjoyment in life were his children, grandchildren and traveling with his wife. He had a love for baseball that he helped spread to and enjoy with his children and grandchildren.

Buster enjoyed coaching at South Des Moines Little League for 32 years. His services to South Des Moines Little League included coaching and an active board member, which led to president of the league for two years. As president, his biggest accomplishment was remodeling the Senior League Complex, which held his name for many years. He loved to throw in a little spice while announcing the Little League games.

Buster was an avid Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners fan. He enjoyed making and decorating cakes and he had a green thumb. He was also an avid country music and bluegrass player, in which he played the banjo and guitar.

Buster is survived by his mother, Edith Rounds, of Mukilteo, Wash.; his wife, Evelyn Rounds, Chariton; brothers, Don Rounds, Mukilteo, Victor Rounds, Veradale, Wash., Jim Rounds, Kennewick, Wash., and Melvin Rounds, Golden Valley, Ariz.; sisters, Mary Bales, Wash., and Joyce Nist, Miles City, Mont.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Rounds; wife, Rosemarie; son, Johnny Rounds; and great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Camp.

Services for Buster were held Monday, Aug. 29 at 1:30 p.m. at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
