Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a First Lieutenant in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Sergeant in Company B, 58th Pennsylvania Infantry for action on September 29, 1864 at Chapin's Farm, Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of flag."
