William Sanders
William I. Sanders, 98, of 1108 W. Main, U, died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 4, 1971) in the Americana Nursing Center, Urbana, where he had resided for the past year.
Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Tuesday in the Weaver-Henderson Funeral Home at Urbana with Dr. Kermit C. Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Wood Cemetery at Rantoul.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
He was born June 11, 1873 in Jessamine County, Ky. to Peter and Mary Jane Reynolds Sanders. He married Elizabeth Walsh on Feb. 15, 1900 in Rantoul. She preceded him in death in September, 1965.
Survivors include one son Floyd W. of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Theodore (Edna) Davis of Bloomington and Mrs. Jo C. (Meryl) Williamson of 2022 Zuppke Circle, U; one brother Arthur of Kentucky; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
One infant daughter, two brothers and five sisters also preceded him in death.
He farmed in the Rantoul area from 1900 until moving to Urbana in 1922. He lived at the Main Street address until 1969 when he moved to the Garwood Home in Champaign.
Mr. Sanders belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Urbana and the Champaign County Farm Bureau.
