South Lead Cemetery records state that "Henry Adolph Ahonen" was born in Lead; late residence - Vallejo, California; died in a San Francisco hospital after surgery; funeral under the direction of the McColley Funeral Home; nearest relative or friend - widow, Genevieve Ahonen of 701 Sacramento Street in Vallejo, CA 94950; buried April 15, 1971

Lead Daily Call newspaper, April 12, 1971 - "Former Lead Resident Dies in San Francisco.
Word has been received of the death of Henry A. Ahonen, Vallejo, Calif., former resident of the Twin Cities, who died Saturday in a San Francisco hospital following three weeks of critical illness.
The body will be returned to Lead where funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at McColley Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Jack Hill will officiate and interment will be in the family lot in the South Lead cemetery."

Lead Daily Call, April 14, 1971 - "Funeral Held in Lead for Henry Ahonen.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in Lead for Henry Ahonen, former resident of Lead, who died Saturday in a San Francisco, Calif. hospital.
Rev. Jack Hill, First Lutheran Church, Lead, officiated at the final rites held in the McColley Funeral Home chapel. Wayne King as soloist sang 'The Lord's Prayer' and 'Precious Lord.' He was accompanied by Mrs. Joe Fraser.
Serving as pallbearers were Arne Lagg, William Konola, A.E. Eklund, Sigurd Sakari, H.V. Christianson and William L. Rosenkranz. Interment was in the South Lead cemetery. Services were also held in the Colonial Chapels in Vallejo, Calif.
Born in Lead in 1908, Ahonen was a graduate of Lead High School and attended the University of Minnesota. He completed his education at San Francisco City College. While attending school he worked for the Homestake Mining Company from 1925 to 1930 and then from Dec. 22, 1930 to Oct. 10, 1942. He had been employed by the Loomis Armored Car Corp. and for his last three years worked as area sales manager, completing a 23-year service record with the firm.
Survivors include his wife Jean, Vallejo, Calif., and a stepson Robert Henning, serving in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Ellen."
