LOCAL DENTIST TAKEN BY DEATH
DR. David B. Cooley, 79,
Dr. David Brewster Cooley, 71, died Wednesday afternoon of complications at his home. 12 Noyes Street, after an ilness of a week. Dr. Cooley was born at Oswego, August 4. 1850. He was educated there and as a young man was deputy weigh-master in the canal collectors office, at which position he served six years. He then went to Atlanta, Ga., where be studied dentistry. In 1875 he entered on the practice of his profession In Oswego, and in 1882 he went east to do post graduate work. The latest methods of dentistry in Boston and ln Manchester.
N. H. In 1864 he came to Utica, where he has practiced his profession since. For 18 years he had an office at the corner of John and Bleecker Streets; since then he had offices in the Stewart Building and later in the McLoughlin Building. He built up a large practice and was well known throught the county. Dr. Cooley was an ardent Democrat, but never held political office. he was a member of St. John's Church and of Holy Name Society. Dr. Cooley married Margaret F. Hayes of Oswego, who is living. He leaves three children, Harry J. Cooley, Mary Henrietta Cooley and Margaret F. Cooley all of Utica and a brother, Leandee Babcock Cooley, Washington, D. C. and two grandchildren.
