Funeral services for Elizabeth Cheatwood will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Assembly of God Church in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Micawber Cemetery west of Welty. Elizabeth Cheatwood was born November 5, 1910 in Greenville, Texas to Isom and Maggie Akin. She passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 in Okemah at the age of 100. Mrs. Cheatwood had been a longtime resident of the Okemah area. She and James "Jim" Cheatwood were married October 14, 1924; he preceded her in death June 20, 1979. Mrs. Cheatwood enjoyed making "door stop dolls"; cooking and spending time wither her family. She was also a member of the Assembly of God Church of Okemah. Also preceding her in death were her parents, four sons, one daughter, two adopted sons, one brother, and two sisters. Survivors include her three sons, Delbert Cheatwood and wife Jean of Manford, Oklahoma, Don Cheatwood and Evelyn of Bristow, and Carl Cheatwood and wife Marilyn of Miami, Oklahoma; three daughters, Betty Fish of Okemah, Maggie Speakman and husband J.B. of Okemah and Mary DeGiacomo and husband Tony of Cache, Oklahoma; 34 grandchildren and many great, great-great, great-great-great, and great-great-great-great grandchildren. She has left behind 6 generations of family. She will be missed. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Clayton Cheatwood, Frank Cheatwood, Keith Cheatwood, Don "Bub" Cheatwood, Bruce Fish and Bryan DeGiacomo. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Arlie and Patty Branson.
