Fulton Sun Gazette-1976:
Dr. Brown Prepares to Leave-40 Years is Long Enough For Anyone;

Dr. John J. Brown said with a smile. He will retire March 1, and leave his office on 6th Street. Some of his patients still find it hard to believe. When I asked several people if they found another doctor, one woman replied " I don't want to think about it, he is the only doctor I have ever had. " Another lady said " I guess I will have to start eating cereal and take exercises everyday and maybe I won't need one for awhile." Two elderly ladies told me " I feel like I did the first day of school, when I think I am going to a new doctor, but I guess it will turn out ok."

Dr. Brown was born and raised in Fulton where he graduated from Fulton High School and Westminster College. He graduated from Washington University Med School in 1934 and did his internship at Youngstown, Ohio.

He opened his first office on 5th Street above the old bank building and shared an office with Dr. Schroer, a dentist.

Mrs. Merle Keith was Dr. Brown's first office girl. She answered the phone and other small chores.
