British Major General. Morris joined the British Army in 1756 and became a Captain in the 36th Regiment of Foot. As a Lieutenant-Colonel in the 89th Highlanders, he took part in the siege of Pondicherry, India (1761). In 1763 he was made a Brigadier General and in 1777 he was made a Major General. He was made a General in 1796. He was a member of Parliament, representing Elgin. He was the grandson of Lewis Morris, the brother of Lewis Morris and the half-brother of Gouverneur Morris.
