Hyrum Smith Richards, 70, of Carson City, Nevada, formerly of Fielding, Utah, died at his home on Sunday, June 24, 1979, after a lingering illness.

He was born on August 7, 1908, in Fielding, Utah, a son of Ezra and Blanche Laube Richards. He was a graduate of Bear River High School and Garland LDS Seminary. He graduated from the Utah State University.

He married Blanche Wood on April 19, 1933 in Farmington, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on June 20, 1934.

He was a Civil Engineer for the Bureau of Relamation.

He had lived in Hyram and Logan, Utah, Montana and Idaho before moving to Carson City, Nevada in 1951.

He was a member of the LDS Church.

Surviving are his widow, Carson City, Nevada; two sons and four daughters: Garth Richards, Winston Richards, both of Carson City, Nevada; Mrs Camille Sakelaris, Mrs Ed (Cathlene) Giekling, both of Reno, Nevada; Mrs Doug Stanley (Sandra) Shank, Gainesbille, Florida; Mrs Kent (Janet) Sutliff, Kearney, Nebraska; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers: Gaylen W Richards, Starke, Florida; and Steven Richards, El Paso, Texas.

Burial was held in the Fielding City Cemetery, Fielding, Utah.
