Charles J Bourne, 73, West Fielding, Utah, died Friday, August 2, 1991, at his home of Lou Gehrig disease.

Charles was born on August 20, 1917, in Farmington, Utah, a son of Charles Wallace and Mattie Mable Robinson Bourne.

He married Erma Vance on March 14, 1938 in Tremonton. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on March 14, 1940.

As a child, he moved to West Fielding where he lived until his death.

He was co-organizer of the Belmont Drainage District and president for 16 years. He was also co-organizer of the Riverside-North Garland Culinary Water Company and served on its board of directors. He served several years on the local Soil Conservation District Commitee and on the Box Elder County Nursing Home Board of Directors.

He was active in the Boy Scouts for over 40 years, serving as District Chairman twice, and Vice President. He also has been an Eagle Speicalist for 10 years, receiving and presenting Eagle awards; advancement chairman of Golden Spike District for some time; Merit Badge Counselor for over 20 years, and recipient of the district Award of Merit, Silver Beaver, Wood Badge Beads, and Philmont training.

He was a High Priest in the Belmont Second LDS Ward and had been a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent and Counselor, MIA Superintendent and Councilor, Stake Missionary, Stake M-Men President and a High Councilor for 12 years and Seventies President. He and his wife served for five years as officiators in the Logan LDS Temple.

Surviving are his wife, West Fielding; three sons and one daughter and their spouses: Charles Vance and Brenda R Bourne, Tremonton, Utah; Sherrie B and Terry Prettyman, Elko, Nevada; Linden C and Cynthia S Bourne, Sandy, Utah; J Bradley and Marchel R Bourne, West Fielding, Utah; 11 grandchildern, two great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister: John A bourne, East Garland; and LaNae B Summers, Bothwell, Utah.

Burial was in the Fielding City Cememtery, Fielding, Utah.
