Mrs. O. P. Cart died Thursday afternoon of last week at her home in the east part of Villisca, where she was with her family moved from Morton Mills last spring, her death resulting from influenza.
Effie Mae Figgins was born October 31, 1879, at Morton Mills, and all of her life has been spent in and near Morton Mills, with the exception of one year she lived in Noble, Illinois.
She was married September 28, 1902, to O. P. Cart of Morton Mills and to this union were born four children, who with the husband and father survived. They are Carl Cart, who resides on the old homestead north of Morton Mills, Mrs. Roger Ranger of Villisca, and Letha and Glee, who are at home with their father. The deceased was a member of the Christian Church.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Morton Mills, with Rev. W. S. Johnson of Des Moines in charge. The singing was by Carl C. Anderson, Oscar Focht, Mrs. Alta Wilson and Mrs. Arthur Talbot, with Mrs. Oscar Focht at the organ. The pall bearers were Kenneth Corbin, Ralph and Clarence Figgins, Jasper Langdon, Will Hall, and J. A. Cunningham, and interment was in the Memorial Cemetery west of Morton Mills.
